If the performance of the last quarter is anything to go by, it looks like it will be another successful year for ute manufacturers.
The first quarter report of new vehicle listings shows that five of the top ten best selling vehicles are utes, a trend that remains unchanged from last year.
We made the prediction back in January that this would be the case and have been proven right by the official sales figures. In our January media release, Driveline CEO Lance Manins said.
“Utes have become popular vehicles because they are no longer seen just as a work vehicle, but as a crossover vehicle. So people who are living good, active lifestyles are seeing that the storage abilities of the tray in the back to put all your gear in is quite a strong attribute.”
The Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Holden Colorado, Mitsubishi Triton and Nissan Navara all appear in the list.
