Driveline’s new radio ads were inspired by genuine client stories. Find out about the truck finance story behind our “finance” ad…
Rather than just running our advertising campaign on ‘the wireless,’ we decided to give you a peek at the stories that inspired each ad.
First I’ll give you the script, then the stories that inspired the script.
This week’s feature radio ad is Willy who owns a company running trucks and heavy equipment…
Driveline “truck finance” radio ad script
VOICEOVER: This is Willy. He’s a trucker, and pretty much all your vehicles came through Driveline?
WILLY: Yep! Started with a Chevy Silverado. Got such a mean finance deal on it, that when my prime mover and trailers came up for renewal, I thought of Driveline, and guess what? They came up with the best finance deal. Again!
VOICEOVER: Finance your business vehicles with Driveline.
Whether it’s a car, van, truck, big rig or trailer – you won’t drive a better deal.

Creative rationale
Our creative maestro explains why he went for this line of radio ad…
You won’t drive a better deal than with Driveline, and there are so many reasons why that is.
To illustrate some of them, we’ve developed an “interview” style format. The tone and style is casual, relaxed, and easy going, to reflect Driveline’s brand positioning.
Each ad features the host introducing a Driveline customer with a very specific set of circumstances. During the chat we find out from that customer why they chose Driveline and what made them so happy with their decision.
Driveline client stories that inspired the “truck finance” ad
There are 3 client cases that fed into this radio ad. All 3 cases are of growing companies that started with one vehicle and over time ended up with many vehicles and truck finance with Driveline.
Truck finance case #1: Dave the earthmoving contractor
This is where the Chevy Silverado part of the radio ad came from. Dave (not his real name) runs an earthmoving company in a regional centre near Auckland.
The first vehicle he leased from Driveline was a Chevy Silverado, which was already owned by the company.
By transferring it into a leasing structure, Dave was able to use the freed up capital as a deposit on a truck he needed for his earthmoving operation. That vehicle came a few months later and was bought using Driveline’s truck finance facility.
Over the years as Dave’s operation grew, his fleet of trucks and bulldozers and diggers expanded, all financed with Driveline’s truck finance or plant & equipment finance facilities.
Dave is a long-term client of Driveline and is now downscaling his operation as he moves to semi-retirement. Like most entrepreneurs, though, slowing down doesn’t mean stopping. We’re just not built that way.
Dave is now in a very comfortable financial position. He attributes a large part of his success to being able to expand his fleet of trucks and diggers without having capital tied up in them. Thanks Driveline!
Truck finance case #2: Stop Digging NZ Ltd
Stop Digging NZ Ltd is a rapidly expanding company that installs groundscrew foundation systems.
Their building code-compliant groundscrew pile foundation system is now widely used in applications such as house and deck foundations, solar racking systems, public boardwalks, and transportable building foundations.
Having gained certification with a CodeMark certificate, they now certify their ground screws, the foundation system, method of design, and installation. This reassurance has further accelerated the company’s growth.
But founder Jude Hickson says it all started with one ute and grew from there. Stop Digging now has 4 utes, 2 SUVs, 2 light trucks and a half million dollar piling rig for big foundations, all financed with Driveline.
On top of that, their regional partners also use Driveline’s truck finance facility to finance their operations.
Jude says Driveline’s truck financing, plant & equipment financing and vehicle leasing has enabled him to expand his business faster without having capital tied up in vehicles and machinery. Thanks Driveline!
And Jude is especially enthusiastic in his praise of Laurie Brown-Haysom, his personal account manager, who makes the whole process so easy. Thanks Laurie!
Truck finance case #3: Malosi the civil works contractor
The third case is a young, rapidly expanding company. As of publication date we haven’t received approval to divulge their identity, so we’ll call the business owner Malosi.
Malosi had been working in a related industry and saw an opportunity offering a particular service to big civil works contractors like Fulton Hogan.
His company started out modestly, but it turned out Malosi’s big point of difference was his ability to recruit really good staff, thanks to his extensive connections throughout the Pasifica community.
This led to rapid growth, with the company now operating a fleet of 9 trucks, all bought with truck finance from Driveline.
They also have 5 utes, and they’re all leased from Driveline too. Not having all his capital tied up in a fleet of trucks and utes has allowed Malosi to expand his business rapidly and look after his ‘family’ of workers. Thanks Driveline!
