Ford New Zealand has been teasing us with releases of the ford ranger 2022 which is expected to hit our shores hopefully in the near future. Expected sometime 2022/2023 with dates to be confirmed hopefully later this year.
Having a look at the new ford ranger 2022 prototype testing currently being undertaken in the Australian outback it looks like we will have further styling cues coming from the American based F150 which will not be a disappointment to many BIG BAD UTE lovers down under.
We don’t have any real information other than what we can see in the following video but we would think that the 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine which we already have here in NZ and which is receiving rave reviews from our clients will be available. Its logical that the Bi Turbo will be the go-to engine going forward especially considering the clean car taxes being applied to many diesel vehicles and the savings that this engine variant presents for owners.
The 2.0 Bi Turbo in our opinion is by far the most practical variant for the NZ market. Many of our clients have had these in their fleets for quite some time now and we are finding that perceptions and myths surrounding the lower cubic capacity engine not being able to perform as well as its bigger 3.0l brother when it comes to the heavy duty grunt work required for tow work in particularly are well and truly being dispelled . It has been reported that possibly a V6 Petrol variant may also be available.
The Ford Ranger has been one of the biggest selling vehicles in all classes in the New Zealand market over the last few years and this trend is set to continue even with the pressure of the carbon taxes being implemented in 2021. The team at Driveline keep a close eye on the share of market that larger vehicles including Utes, SUV/s and Vans are capturing within our own portfolio and that share is remaining stable at a little over 65%.
Give the team a call for more info on any new vehicle requirements you may have.
