Join us as we take a peek behind the curtain at the talented individuals who make up the Driveline team and keep this company running. In the months to come, we will be unveiling some of their most intriguing stories. This week we turn the spotlight on Rob Gale.
Some say his moustache can out-walrus a walrus, and that there’s a trail of broken-hearted Vietnamese women pleading for him to be their private chef… All we know is he’s called the Holy Gale.
Meet Rob Gale, a man of many passions. From Driveline to Da Nang, our senior business manager is not your ordinary car finance guy. When he’s not helping his clients into a new vehicle, you might find Rob behind the lens of a camera, in the kitchen, on the beach, in a boat fishing, or travelling the world.
Let’s take a closer look at the life and passions of this most interesting person.
Amongst other things, Rob is a former professional photographer and an avid traveller. After a few years of Covid restrictions kept him in New Zealand, he finally got the opportunity to visit Vietnam for a month over Christmas.
He documented his trip through his camera lens and enjoyed many things about the country, particularly the people and the culture, which he says are fantastic. The ease of travelling around the country was unexpected and the amazing food was a big highlight.
Rob landed in Ho Chi Min City, formerly known as Saigon, and travelled as far north as Sapa, departing from Hanoi. He says that every city had its highlights and finds it too hard to pick a favourite, but particularly enjoyed Da Nang, Hoi An, Ninh Binh, Sapa, and Hanoi.
During his travels he took a three-day cruise in the World Heritage Park of Ha Long Bay where he enjoyed 10-course dinners and luxury accommodation aboard a traditional junk boat.
And this will surprise you… being a keen cook, Rob sought out cooking classes in Vietnam to experience the local food and learn some great recipes that he could recreate at home.
Rob’s love for photography is a passion that has remained with him even after he left his professional photography career behind. He enjoys capturing the beauty of nature and life’s moments through his camera lens. His work showcases his ability to capture the essence of his subjects and the world around him.
Rob’s passion for cooking sees him enjoying time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes and creating dishes that are both delicious and visually appealing. His skills as an amateur chef are well known within his circle of friends and he is always happy to cook up a storm for a gathering.
Rob’s love for cooking goes hand in hand with his passion for travel. He enjoys exploring new cuisines and experiencing the flavours that different cultures have to offer. He believes that food is an integral part of any travel experience and that it is through food that one can truly experience a culture.
Now back at home in Red Beach, Rob spends his time outside Driveline running a part-time dog photography business, enjoying fishing, walks along the local beaches, and, of course, cooking some of the Vietnamese dishes he learned while on holiday.
Prior to joining Driveline, Rob sold trailer boats at Fish City Boating & Outdoors where he was able to merge his passion for fishing with his professional expertise. With his extensive knowledge of both boating and fishing, Rob quickly became our go-to expert for clients seeking finance for their trailer boat purchase. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a recreational boater, Rob has the expertise to guide you in making the most informed decision possible.
If you need finance for a trailer boat, or a new Tuk Tuk, or maybe something more practical like a ute, SUV or EV, you’re in good hands with Rob Gale. Give him a call on 0800 275-374 or email robgale@driveline.co.nz. Or check out his bio and video here.
Rob’s passion for fishing, photography, travel, and cooking is a reflection of his adventurous spirit and his desire to experience all that life has to offer. His ability to juggle multiple passions and pursuits is an inspiration to all of us. He shows us that it is possible to pursue our dreams and passions while also excelling in our careers.
